Case Study Construction · Australia

An address becomes a costed construction plan.

Ask Trevor is an AI construction-intelligence platform for the Australian building industry. Enter a property address, upload your drawings, and ask a question. The platform returns planning rules, quantity takeoffs, a Bill of Quantities and material costs at live rates, with owners, contractors and suppliers working in one place. Afaq built the platform and its AI; we helped shape the build.

Every build starts with the same five questions, and slow answers.

Before a project begins, an owner needs to know what can be built, what rules apply, what it will cost, which materials are needed and who to involve. Those answers decide the budget, so they need to come first.

The answers come slowly. A council check confirms zoning. An estimator reads the drawings and works up quantities. A spreadsheet holds the costs. Supplier calls fill in prices that change week to week. The owner waits, and the early decisions get made on guesses.

Each step lives in a different tool and a different inbox. Nothing carries the address, the documents and the numbers in one place, so the picture stays scattered right up to the point money gets committed.

Six agents that take a project from address to a costed plan.

Afaq built the platform and its AI. Six specialized agents work the construction workflow, each owning one job and passing structured output to the next. A Planning Agent reviews rules and zoning. A Plans Agent reads drawings and generates quantities. A Costing Agent builds estimates from project data. A Contributor Agent validates supplier and contractor inputs. A Document Librarian manages the project files. A Brief Agent assembles the whole thing into a complete project brief.

What that meant in practice

  • An address and uploaded documents turn into planning rules, quantities and a structured BOQ
  • Material and labour costs come from live rate intelligence, not stale spreadsheets
  • Owners, contractors, suppliers and consultants work the same project in one workspace
  • Six agents hand off in sequence, so each output is structured and traceable to its source

Starting point

Ask a question, or enter an address.

The platform opens on one input. Type a question or paste a property address, and Ask Trevor pulls the site into a project. From there you upload drawings, reports and surveys, and the agents start reading. The blank-spreadsheet stage disappears.

The hardest part

Drawings come in as messy PDFs, every set marked up its own way. Turning those pages into quantities a Costing Agent can trust, then holding that chain straight from the Plans Agent through the BOQ to live material rates, is where most of the engineering went.

Ego Eimi Engineering note · the build

Live, and built to match real Australian construction work.

Ask Trevor is live and aligned with local building requirements and the way Australian projects run.

The platform turns a construction idea into a structured, costed project, then keeps owners, contractors, suppliers and consultants in the same workflow. Next the team is extending past estimation into procurement, delivery planning and site logistics, so one workspace can carry a project from the first question to the build.
